26 was a pretty incredible year of travel and exploration. After starting it off with a girls weekend at the Ace, I camped the coast of California, backpacked through Asia, roadtripped across the country, created a freelance business, the boy and I moved into our dream apartment, we brought Cherokee into our lives, started a garden and overall manifested everything we had wanted the year before. If 25 had a theme it was “getting closer,” — and 26 felt like I was finally “in it.”
Yesterday I turned 27 and celebrated by spending a relaxing long weekend in Sedona, AZ with the boy and our friends. We drank, hiked, lounged by the pool, read magazines, played cards, barbecued… it was as wonderful as it sounds.
We flew back late yesterday afternoon and arrived to find this gem in a sweet birthday card from my Momma:
It’s a shopping list from first grade! In case you can’t decipher my handwriting, my 7-year-old-self’s wishlist included:
“pretty leather boots”
“all shades of lipstick”
a safety case of some sort?
“pretty neon pink camera”
“a good necklace”
Cracks me up. I really have not changed at all!
While I did ask for some “pritay” things this year, I’ve been using this first day being 27 to meditate some more on what I want this year to look like and write down all that I couldn’t fit in the gust of blowing out birthday candles. I was reminded recently that we are spiritual beings having a physical experience- and that therefore, if we want more positive life experiences- we must be active in creating them.
