I dont usually post about my design projects on here but one of my goals for this year is to start sharing more, both projects from the past and present… here goes the first!
When Laura, a wedding, fashion and lifestyle photographer contacted me as my first client in 2013 I knew it was sign of an incredible year to come. Anyone with the words sun chaser, whimsical, romantic, timeless, dreamy and animal/ nature conservation in their inquiry gets a big HELL YES from me!
Since I haven’t blogged about my process before, I always start with a moodboard to set the tone and color palate, and to explore general concepts. This phase of the process is always my favorite because in this “dreaming phase” I allow my mind to just wander for a few days, and meditate on the client at hand.
With Laura, I immediately started thinking watercolor, flower wreaths, dream catchers, fruits and blossoms, sketched cans and ribbons waving off the back of a car bumper, mandalas, and decorative, flowy fonts. The flowerchildren bohemians.
But as I thought about it more, I began to consider a possible darker, moodier side- circles of birds flying, silhouettes standing, horses running, quickly written fonts– the wild hearts, the solstice moon, the storytelling, the reality of love and its untamable ways.
So I went ahead and made two moodboards representing these different paths– both containing a dreamy element, circular patterns, turquoise and gold- but the first was softer, more feminine, and the second, bit messier; stronger-willed.
